Another Michigan Tech Railroad Night is now in the books!  On September 12th, 2023 a diverse group of industry representatives, faculty, and industry representatives met in the Rosza Center.  More than 50 students had a chance to mingle with representatives from 13 different industry companies.  Our students were looking for answers to their questions about work-life balance, opportunities to advance in future careers, and of course for jobs and internships!  Industry representatives were here to promote the industry as a viable career choice, and of course scouting the crowd for candidates to fill their job openings.  Members of the Michigan Tech faculty were present to discuss their research with students and industry.  The interim Dean of the College of Engineering, Audra Morse, introduced our keynote speaker, Maryam Allahyar, Director of Research, Development, and Technology for the Federal Railroad Administration.  Her presentation was awesome, and our faculty had a chance to pick her brain for future research opportunities.  Ms Allahyar also had an opportunity to see our research capabilities first hand.

Altogether, the event was a great opportunity for students, faculty, and industry to meet in a relaxed atmosphere over dinner and conversation, and discuss opportunities in the industry.  We added another resounding success to the growing list (now at 18 and counting!) of annual Railroad Nights at Michigan Tech.  Next year’s event is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, September 11th.

This years event was sponsored by the CN and UP Railroads, HDR, TKDA, and SW Bridge.  CLICK HERE for information on how to join our sponsors.
